The Bri-Mod RD1 can be used with a variety of mains incandescent lamps, 12V (Low Voltage) halogen lamps appropriately wired to dimmable electronic low voltage transformers, and also the new generation of “dimmer dimmable” Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs). Since it is compatible with the leading brands of dimmable low energy CFLs it has become as future proof as possible – now you can experience both the ultra low power consumption of CFL technology and the capability of dimming those lamps!

We’ve also incorporated a number of automatic protection features into the Bri-Mod RD1 such as thermal and intelligent current overload shutdown just to mention a few. About the Bri-Mod RD1 Dimmer Module Kit
Bri-Luxe Ltd has combined sophisticated electronic dimmer circuitry with proven robust weatherproof utility lighting control technology to yield a totally unique, revolutionary new outdoor lighting product.
The Bri-Mod RD1 is an intelligent infrared (IR) remote controlled outdoor incandescent lighting dimmer switch module supplied in kit form.
It allows you to precisely control and set by means of almost any available IR remote control handset the intensity of light in an outdoor lamp, or lamps.
This gives you the ease and safety of controlling an incandescent load outdoors up to 300 Watts using either 240VAC mains lamps or 12V low voltage halogen lamps which are appropriately wired to a suitable dimmable electronic transformer.
By pressing a single user defined button on the remote control handset, a suitably wired lamp can be switched on, off, or the light level can be varied from full brightness or reduced to just a glowing filament in the lamp.
The dimmer switch module must first be programmed to accept a signal from an IR remote control handset. This straightforward programming is undertaken using the included programming wand. Any standard IR remote control handset unit (e.g. TV, DVD, or video remote) can be used to communicate control instructions to the outdoor dimmer switch module.
The Bri-Mod RD1, once programmed, is operated by pressing the user selected IR control key or button on the IR remote control handset.
The non-volatile memory employed in the RD1 dimmer switch circuit will not lose the stored settings even in the event of prolonged power loss. Once the desired light level is set, the RD1 module will “remember” the setting and if the dimmer switch module is switched off at the mains and then back on again the lamp will return to the last light level set.
Note- If a particular light level is required without varying for the long term, say for reducing light trespass, a lamp can be dimmed to the desired light level using the Bri-Mod RD1and switched on and off at the mains using a standard mains light switch, this method (“set and forget”) eliminates the chances of the setting being accidentally altered by use of the remote control handset.
The dimmer module circuit utilises a microprocessor in its construction and hence many advanced features are possible. The microprocessor monitors both overload and overheating conditions and will take appropriate action to protect the electronics by shutting down the circuit in the event either condition is detected.
A “soft start” feature considerably lengthens the life of the bulb, and the use of Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) technology incorporated in the dimmer switch control electronics results in very low power consumption and negligible audible noise generated by the circuit.
