News Update October 2007
There has been a lot in the news recently about the incandescent light bulb and the impact on the environment due to its high energy requirements.
At Bri-Luxe Ltd we recently introduced the Bri-Mod RD1 outdoor remote dimmer switch module which results in a reduction of energy consumption by the very action of dimming an incandescent lamp. (It also gives a significant increase in the bulb life!)
We are pleased to announce that that the RD1 module can also be used with a brand new generation of compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) sometimes known as “dimmer dimmable” CFLs. One of the leaders in this new lamp technology is Doyle and Tratt Products Ltd. who manufacture the DigiFlux range of bulbs under their Varilight brand. Varilight have confirmed the Bri-Mod RD1 dimmer switch module is particularly suited to their new Energy Saver+ Fully Dimmable DigiFlux lamps. These lamps offer the benefits of CFLs which are low energy consumption and very long life. Another very important feature is the fact that they allow dimming of the lamp using conventional incandescent light dimmers, and they dim in a manner very much like a standard incandescent lamp.
We are very excited about this new lighting product because now we can all contribute to help the environment by reducing energy use even further whilst still being able to control and enjoy the ambience of the lighting around us.
It must be noted that when using the dimmer dimmable DigiFlux lamps with the Bri-Mod RD1 module there is a derating factor which must be adhered to. The rating of the lamp must be doubled to give the equivalent wattage for the Bri-Mod RD1 module. If the DigiFlux lamp has a rating of 20W you must first double it giving 40W. The Bri-Mod dimmer switch has a maximum power rating of 300W therefore you could operate up to a maximum of 7 DigiFlux 20W lamps using one RD1 module. You can also dim a mix of DigiFlux lamps and incandescent lamps as long as the Bri-Mod RD1 maximum load rating of 300W is not exceeded.
