The Bri-Mod RD1 Dimmer Switch Module Kit
The Bri-Mod RD1 is an intelligent infrared (IR) remote controlled outdoor incandescent lighting dimmer/switch module, available in kit form.
It allows you to precisely control and set by means of an Infrared (IR) remote control the intensity of light in an outdoor lamp, or lamps.
By combining existing sophisticated indoor electronic dimmer technology with proven robust weather-resistant twist lock utility lighting control technology the result is a totally unique, revolutionary new outdoor lighting product.
The Bri-Mod RD1 gives you the ease and safety of controlling an outdoor incandescent load from 40 Watts up to 300 Watts using any of 240V AC mains incandescent lamps, 12V low voltage halogen lamps (which are appropriately wired to a suitable dimmable electronic transformer), or dimmable Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs).
The Bri-Mod RD1dimmer switch module must first be programmed to accept a signal from a button (key) on an Infrared (IR) remote control handset. This straight forward programming or “teaching” step uses a magnetic programming wand which is included in the kit. Any standard Infrared remote control handset unit (e.g. TV, DVD, or video remote) can be used to communicate control instructions to the outdoor dimmer module.
Once programmed, the Bri-Mod RD1 will operate by using the selected button on the IR remote control handset unit.
By pressing a single user defined button on the remote control unit, a suitably wired lamp can be switched on, off, or the light level can be varied from full brightness down to just a glowing filament.
Once the desired light level is set, the dimmer switch module “remembers” the setting in its memory, so that if the module is switched off and then back on again it will turn the lamp back on to the last light level set.
The non-volatile memory employed in the dimmer circuit will not lose the stored settings even in the event of prolonged power loss.
The dimmer module circuit utilises a microprocessor in its construction and hence many advanced features are possible. This microprocessor monitors both overload and overheating conditions and will take appropriate action to protect the electronics by shutting down the circuit in the event either condition is detected.

Operating Voltage: 230V 50Hz - Maximum Load: 300 Watt Incandescent tungsten filament lamps or low voltage halogen (12V) lamps if wired to an appropriate electronic transformer to a maximum load rating of 300W.

Bri-Mod Programming Wand
Each Bri-Luxe dimmer modules comes complete with a programming wand.
The magnetic wand used in conjunction with the Bri-Mod dimmer module to activate the programming process of the module.
The programming wand enables the user to set the Bri-Luxe RD1 Dimmer Module into “programming” or “learn” mode by gently tapping the blue (magnetic) end of the wand against the blue circle on the dimmer module housing a number of times in relatively quick succession.
It is of tubular construction, 132mm long and 7mm in diameter made of ABS plastic with an integral small permanent bar magnet fitted internally at the “blue” end.
Bri-Mod RD1 NEMA Socket/Fixing Bracket
Included also with the Bri-Mod dimmer module is a NEMA 3 terminal “twist and lock” socket/bracket for mounting to a wall or other suitable surface plus mounting hardware and cable gland.

Bri-Luxe IR-DX1 Infrared (IR) Remote Control Handset
The IR-DX1 is intended specifically to be used with the Bri-Mod RD1Outdoor Remote Controlled Intelligent Dimmer Switch Module by those who require extra range. Its powerful output will provide a superior range of up to 25m in dark, dry, outdoor conditions compared to most commercially available IR remote control handsets when used in this application.
The Bri-Mod RD1 dimmer switch module can be programmed to respond to any of the 15 buttons (keys) on the Bri-Luxe IR-DX1 remote control handset which means up to 15 separate Bri-Mod RD1s can be controlled from one IR-DX1 handset.
